Pole Displays in Agvance

Q.  How do I to set up a pole display device at my point of sale computer?

A.  Agvance supports two models of pole display—the POS-X XP8200U and the POS-X XP8200S.

The POS-X XP8200U is a USB model, whereas the POS-X XP8200S connects to a computer using a serial connection.

Once the display pole is connected to the computer, the device shows in Windows Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT).

When the device is visible in Device Manager, the Quick Ticket Preferences must be updated for each user who will enter Quick Tickets. Have each user log into Agvance, go to Accounting / A/R / Manage Quick Tickets, and select Options to display the Quick Ticket Preferences screen.

On the Quick Ticket Preferences, choose the port that corresponds with the pole display device in the Pole Display Options area. In this example, it is COM4:

The default message that displays on the pole may be changed by editing the Message area. No other configuration is required. Select Save. To ensure the changes have taken effect, choose the Add a Quick Ticket shortcut button:

The default message should display. The prices should also display as items are scanned.
