form-U-net Is Using the Wrong Item

Q.  AMS (21-0-0-24S) was added to the Material Group, but why is the blend using AMS instead of Urea for the Nitrogen source?

A.  Least cost formulation is used in form-U-net when calculating items to use in fulfilling the nutrients requested. Any of the following options can correct this issue, however, company business rules may drive which option is the best to use.

  • Increase the Cost of AMS, so the Material Group uses Urea instead.
  • Decrease the Cost of Urea, so the Material Group uses it instead of AMS.
  • Navigate to Material Groups. Select the Material Group, and then select Edit Selected Material Group / Edit Activities. Set the Upper Bound of the AMS item to the maximum amount of AMS to use in blends.
  • Navigate to Material Groups / Material Groups Setup / Save a Copy Of, and create a copy of this group. In one copy of the group, select Edit Selected Material Group / My Group Settings / Products in Group, and remove AMS from the group. Leave the AMS in the other copy of the group, and use the group appropriate for each blending circumstance.
  • On the AMS row of Material Groups / Edit Selected Material Groups / Edit Activities, select the box in the Prompt Up column and save. A Prompt Up selection is added to the Formulation grid for AMS. It displays a less than symbol, ‘<’, with a value of ‘++’, which means infinity. To restrict AMS from being used in a blend, change the ‘++’ to 0. To limit the quantity to a value, change the ‘++’ to the necessary value. If ‘++’ is left as is, when formulating, form-U-net creates a Least Cost Formulation normally.
