Collecting and Restoring Datasets in Agvance

Overview

The following steps should be followed to collect an elevator's data and restore it on an auditor's computer.

At the Elevator

  1. Make an On Demand Image of the Customer's Agvance data (on the Hub Menu under Utilities/Make Database Image).

  2. Check option “Zip Image Files.”

  3. Check option “Copy Image To” and select the CD or Flash Disk that will be sent to the auditor.

On the Auditor’s Machine

  1. Make sure that you exported the history for this elevator last month.
    Note:  The restore function will take several minutes. You will get a message that the dataset was successfully restored when it is finished.

  2. After verifying that you exported the history for this elevator last month, copy the zip from the CD or Flash Disk to your ElevatorName\ElevatorName folder.

  3. Restore the dataset.  To do this, run the program called Agvance Utilities from Start / Programs / Agvance Utilities. From within that program, choose Utilities / Restore Database.  For detailed instructions please see the Restoring from a Backup Quick Reference Guide.  

  4.  When the restore is complete, import the history that you exported in step 2 above.

  5. After completing all of the Auditor work on the dataset, make an image of the data.

  6. Close the month.

  7. Export the Account History so that you are ready for next month.
