Clear Browser Cache

Q.  How do I clear my browser's cache? I've been told I need to do this when a web-based application gets an update.

A.  Below are instructions on how to clear browser cache on Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 11, and Mozilla Firefox.

Google Chrome

Open Google Chrome. Select F12 on your keyboard. The Developer Tools should appear at the bottom or side of the window. If not, select Ctrl+Shift+I on the keyboard. Minimize the Developer Tools window that opens, or move it to the side.

Right-click the Refresh button, and select Empty Cache and Hard Reload.

Close and reopen Google Chrome.

To view the current version of Chrome, open Google Chrome, and select the Menu button, and then select About Google Chrome

The version being used will display on the window.

Internet Explorer 11

Open Internet Explorer (IE), and select the F12 key on the keyboard.

Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard, and select the R key on the keyboard at the same time. (Ctrl + R)

Select F12 again to close the Developer Tools.

Close and reopen Internet Explorer.

To find the current version of Internet Explorer being used, select the Help button, and then select About Internet Explorer.

The version being used will display on the window.

Mozilla Firefox

Open Mozilla Firefox. Select the Menu button, and then select Options

Select the Advanced panel in the upper right hand corner, and open the Network tab.

In the Cached Web Content section, select the Clear Now button.

Select OK to close the Options window. Close and reopen Mozilla Firefox.

To view the current version of Mozilla Firefox, select the Menu button. Select the Open Help Menu button.

Then select About Firefox. The version being used will display on the window.
