Grain FAQs

Q.  CNS program (Central Notification System) - I am seeing a lien for a farmer listed several times when it only needs to be listed once. Why is this duplicated?

A.  The CNS sends out an update disk periodically. Along with the update disk they send a complete list of liens. You should only load out the update disk each time they arrive. If you load them all out you will get duplicates in your lienholders list.

If you have duplicates please contact support for assistance in cleaning these up.

Q.  Is it possible to track the transactions that used the Mark as Posted but do not post to GL option on the Grain Purchase Report, Grain Sales Report, Grain Storage Report, Commodity Transfer Posting Report, Grain Company Owned Adjustment, and Shipment Advance Report?

A.  When the Mark as Posted but do not post to GL option is used on Grain Posting reports that affect the Grain Inventory Report, a transaction is recorded in a log. These reports include the Grain Purchase Report, Grain Sales Report, Grain Storage Report, Commodity Transfer Posting Report, Grain Company Owned Adjustment, and Shipment Advance Report.

If the Require reason for changes preference is selected on the General tab at Grain / Setup / Preferences, a window displays to indicate the reason for the change. The reason must exceed the minimum length specification to enable the Done button.

Q.  Why is the DPR Actual column not being updated when the Grain Inventory Report is run?

When the Grain Inventory Report updates the DPR Actual column, it is being driven by the DPR Date that is entered by the user. The Grain module goes to the first DPR it finds with that date on it, and uses the information it sees. If more than one Post to DPR transaction has been entered for the day, it will not see multiple entries. Thus, the Grain Inventory report must be run again with the Report Date edited to the following day.

The second (preferable) solution would be to run the report by DPR report number, choosing the second DPR created for the day reconciling against.
