Modem Data Splitter

When a company is running the Agvance Scale Interface and the Grain Scale Interface on the same computer using the same com port for the scale indicator, they will get a com port already in use message. Using a modem data splitter will allow each Scale Interface program to have its own com port.

What is Needed?

A modem data splitter can be purchased through B&B Electronics. The following link provides information on the modem data splitter:

To use the modem data splitter, the computer will need two com ports, two usb to com port converters, or a combination of both. If an usb to com port converter is needed, the com port properties will need to be checked to see what com port the converter is using.

Using Modem Data Splitter with Scale Interface

Agvance Grain Scale Interface will need to use Scale 1. Agvance Scale Interface will need to use Scale 2. The following information needs to be added to the Agvance.ini for the Agvance Scale Interface to default to Scale 2 when adding a scale ticket: 'Scale To Use=Scale 2'.

When adding scale tickets, both Scale Interfaces will have the weight displayed. The user will need to capture in the Scale Interface where the scale ticket is to be saved.
